The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the faculty of Postgraduate and Continuing education of Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heratsi
This Department has been formed in 2011, based on the homonymous department at National Institute of Health after S.H. Avdalbekyan, formed in 1974. This department operates at RCMCHP as well.
All the professors working in the department are doctors and candidates of medical science, leading experts in the field of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive medicine. The head of the department is Georgi G. Okoev. The employees of RCMCHP work here: Professor of the Department, Doctor of Medical Science K.K. Arustamyan, Associate Professors of the chair E.S. Totoyan, A. H. Khachatryan, Senior lecturers S.I. Azizyan and L.K. Manukyan, lecturers K.E. Abrahamyan, G. A. Gomtsyan and assistant A.G. Sayadyan.
The Department organizes the certification and thematic cycles of postgraduate trainings for the doctors and nurses of birth care facilities of Republic of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, in order to improve their skills. The department provides lectures and practical trainings on the actual issues of obstetrics and gynecology.
The Department offers 4-year clinical residency courses in specialty “Obstetrics and Gynecology”. Currently, there are 69 full-time residents at the Department.
The Department also provides classes for postgraduate studies. The postgraduate students’ research topics are closely related to the ones done by the employees of the RCMCHP.
Cooperation with the RCMCHP has created a possibility for implementation of different scientific research.
The Department of Neonatology
The RCMCHP, is considered to be the clinical base for the Department of Neonatology and Pediatrics of the Faculty of Postgraduate and Continuing Education of YSMU after Mkhitar Heratsi which was established in 2011 (Formerly: The Department of Neonatology in the National Institute of Health after S.H. Avdalbekyan, since 1998). Every year, a number of doctors, nurses and clinical residents take trainings from all over the country.
On the basis of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), many clinical residents are constantly trained in the specialty of “Neonatology and Pediatrics”. Periodically, the conferences and lectures are held, engaging colleagues from abroad.
A number of methodical assignments have been developed in the faculty, within the specialty of “Neonatology”.
